Global distribution system (GDS) specialist Sabre Travel Network is to harness the social networking and knowledge-sharing trends of Web 2.0, launching a new Community Platform for business travellers.
Partnering with American Express, Sabre's 'Cubeless' platform is designed to allow the employees of a business to share business travel information ranging from flight times to the suitability of hotels and restaurants.
Sabre's GetThere online booking tool will host the platform as an application module, with Cubeless already functioning internally and containing some 10,000 user profiles – the benefits of which will be extended to willing companies when the product is launched later this year.
Charles Petruccelli, global travel services president at American Express, said: "We believe strongly in the value of social networking in the business travel space and welcome the opportunity to be a part of the first platform to be delivered to the marketplace by working with Sabre on the launch of Cubeless. We believe it will be an important component of a broader offering on social networking capabilities that will enhance our ability to deliver knowledge, better savings, service and control to our customers, while building loyalty and engagement with our travellers."
