Flight Centre has launched a new Web 2.0 online community where travellers from across the world can meet to discuss their experiences.

The GlobalTravelBlog is expected to welcome hundreds of holidaymakers who will be able to use the site to research accommodation, tours and a country or region before they book their flights.

Other users will contribute to the social media site through technology such as RSS, blogging and tagging.

"In a world that is increasingly driven by consumer feedback and peer-to-peer recommendations, we are excited to give our customers a voice about their travel experiences, while also expanding our brand and increasing the search engine optimisation of our retail websites," said Grant Waldeck, Flight Centre's online marketing manager.

"This community provides a significant competitive advantage for our organisation by putting Flight Centre truly at the centre of the travel planning and recommendation process.

This weekend, Flight Centre was named in the Sunday Times' 'best companies to work for' list.
