British Airways has revealed that the first phase of moving international flights to the new Terminal 5 building at Heathrow Airport will start in June.
The airline had planned, alongside airport operator BAA, to move international flights from Terminal 4 to Terminal 5 in April. However, problems with baggage handing systems and subsequent passenger delays at the new terminal lead the airline to delay the move.
From June 5th, flights to eight destinations will relocate to Terminal 5 – meaning passengers will need to use the new terminal for BA services to Abuja, Bangalore, Beijing, Cairo, Cape Town, Lagos, Phoenix and New York's JFK Airport.
Willie Walsh, chief executive of the airline, said: "As we announced on April 11th, we will move our Terminal 4 long-haul programme into Terminal 5 in phases.
We have taken this decision in the interests of customers, who remain our priority at all times."
Services to Singapore, Sydney and Bangkok are due to move early next year.
