Daily Durban flights from Emirates
Thursday 29 May 2008
Emirates Airline has announced a new route to the South African city of Durban from its
Dubai base.
Daily
flights to Durban will start in December and follow the successful introduction of
flights to Cape Town earlier this year.
The new service will take the number of South African markets served by Emirates up to three, with the airline offering daily
flights to Johannesburg since 2007.
Tim Clark, president of Emirates Airline, said: "I am confident the new service will foster greater business, tourism and cultural exchange, and prove an asset in the growth plans of Durban.
"Our flights will provide travellers from key cities in Europe, the Indian-sub continent and Middle East a direct access to
Durban and will strengthen inbound tourist arrivals."
He added that passengers flying from Durban will have direct access to over 90 destinations and will be able to reach the Middle East without travelling to Johannesburg.
As well as expanding its presence in South Africa, Emirates will boost its profile in China with new
flights to Guangzhou in July. The daily service will join existing
flights to Beijing,
Shanghai and
Hong Kong.
