Malev Hungarian Airlines increases baggage allowance
Friday 30 May 2008
Malev Hungarian Airlines has increased the baggage allowance for bags loaded into the hold by 3kg.
The
new allowances mean passengers will be able to place up to 23kg in the
hold on European routes, and as much as 30kg on long-haul flights.
Malev said the extra 3kg allowance will "go a long way to easing the process of packing before the flight".
However, the new 23kg limit is only applicable to flights operated by Malev, and not those operated by its code-share partners.
The
new allowance will come in to force on June 3rd but Malev Airlines is
also reminding passengers that it runs a "zero tolerance" policy on
baggage above the 23kg limit in Europe, with every additional kilogram
attracting a surcharge of €10.
Furthermore, Malev has announced
that it now has an electronic ticket system in operation for its entire
network. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) instructed
Malev to introduce e-tickets for its entire network by May 31, 2008.
