Come to Korea: Finnair begins non-stop flights to Seoul

Finnair airline has today launched a new direct flight to Seoul, the South Korean capital, from Helsinki-Vantaa airport in Finland.

The new route marks the 11th Asian destination to be offered by the Finnish carrier and is the only non-stop flight from South Korea to northern Europe.

"We are delighted that our range of Asian flight routes is being supplemented, serving both passengers and cargo customers," says Henrik Arle, deputy chief executive and head of Scheduled Passenger Traffic at Finnair airline.

"Right from the first flight our customers represent several different nationalities, underlining Finnair's development into a genuinely international operator."

The increasingly prosperous nation of South Korea is fast becoming a popular holiday destination with many travellers opting to take city breaks in Seoul.

Attractions outside of the capital city which continue to draw in travellers include the Seorak-san national park, the historic city of Gyeongju and Jeju Island.

The new route from Finnair is also likely to give people living in South Korea the chance to travel to Europe – with the majority of passengers expected to be from the Asian county.
