New HM Revenue & Customs podcast informs travellers
Friday 6 June 2008
A new podcast has been launched by the government to brief travellers on what they can and can't bring on
flights to the UK.
The podcast has been created by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to clarify which items are banned, including certain food and plant material, some prescription drugs, as well as weapons and counterfeit goods.
"If you're planning a trip abroad, for business or pleasure, take a few minutes to find out what you can and can't bring back with you - it could save you a lot of time and money in the long run," advised Mark Fuchter from HMRC.
Passengers can
listen to the podcast on the HMRC website, or download it to their MP3 player or computer.
According to the website, certain items are banned in order to "protect citizens' safety, health and the environment". The prohibited list applies to all travellers on flights entering the UK, irrespective of where they are flying from.
