Wednesday 11 June 2008
Air passengers in Scotland will soon be able to enjoy
cheap flights to Croatia with the arrival of a new service from Flyglobespan airline.
The carrier has announced new
flights to Dubrovnik from its base at Edinburgh Airport.
Flights will run once a week and mark the first direct service between the two cities.
David Johnston, managing director of Edinburgh Airport, welcomed the new service, commenting: "Flyglobespan's new service to Dubrovnik is a first for Edinburgh and a great addition to our growing network of direct destinations.
"The Croatian city is a fantastic holiday spot on the Adriatic coast and the new weekly service opens up this picturesque and historic destination to Scots."
Fellow
cheap flights airline Ryanair recently revealed expansion plans at Edinburgh Airport for 2008.
Flights to Berlin, Bratislava and Stockholm Skavsta are part of 12 new routes revealed by the carrier earlier this year. This takes the number of cities served by
Ryanair flights from Edinburgh up to 19.
