Air Southwest has announced that its flights for the winter ski season will land in Grenoble and not in Chambery as originally planned.

The low-cost airline will launch flights to Grenoble Airport from Plymouth and Newquay as part of its winter schedule.

Flights will run from December until March and offer passengers the opportunity to reach several ski resorts, including the popular destinations of Les Deux Alps, Val Thorens and Chamonix.

Passengers affected by the change will be contacted by the airline to rearrange travel plans.

"Grenoble Airport has a wider range of facilities than Chambery Airport, and is also less prone to flight delays during the busy ski season," Air Southwest said in a statement.

Air Southwest launched cheap flights to Newcastle Airport from Newquay and Plymouth earlier this year. The daily service is operated by Bombardier jets and was introduced for passengers seeking short breaks on either the north-east or south-west coasts.
