Lufthansa has launched three new flights as part of its summer schedule for 2008.

The international carrier will introduce flights to 15 new destinations this summer - taking the number of airports in the Lufthansa airline network up to 207.

Most of the expansion concentrates on long-haul flights to Asia and North America.

Five weekly flights to Singapore from Munich were introduced last week, as were flights from the German airport to Shenyang in China via Seoul in South Korea.

The Shenyang flights will run three times a week and operate alongside other new flights to Nanjing from Frankfurt.

Other flights to be added from Frankfurt include daily services to Calgary and Seattle, as well as three flights a week to Malabo in Equatorial Guinea.

Commenting on the new Asian routes, Thierry Antinori, executive vice president of marketing & sales at Lufthansa, said: "Development in the Asian markets is very dynamic.

"Customers from the Far East can fly directly to America with just a single stopover in Frankfurt or Munich. Each new Asian flight thus has a positive impact on our American routes and vice-versa."

Alongside the two new Munich flights, Lufthansa has also launched a weekly service between Hamburg and the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik.
