Stockholm-Arlanda Airport will welcome the arrival of
easyJet flights in October.
The low-cost carrier is to add cheap
flights from Milan-Malepensa to Stockholm as part of its ongoing expansion plans at the Italian airport.
This will be easyJet's first venture into the Swedish market and has been welcomed by officials at Stockholm-Arlanda.
Mats Sigurdson, director of aviation marketing at Swedish airport operator, LFV, said: "For a long time, easyJet has been one of the most important airlines in Europe.
"Airline industry growth is occurring mainly among low fare airlines, of which easyJet is the best-reputed. With this venture, Stockholm-Arlanda is strengthening its position as the airport in Sweden that has the largest selection of low-fare tickets."
The airport has recently received new flights from Delta, which added services from its Atlanta hub.
Cheap flights from Tallinn to Stockholm are due to be added by Estonian Air in August to fill the gap left by SAS, which announced plans to discontinue the route.
